The Odd One Posts: 110 Group: Members Member #71 Joined: Aug 17, 2009	WE NEED ONE! Led Zeppelin is known as "The founders of metal." The band formed in the mid 60s. Guitarist Jimmy Page (Voted words greatest guitarist in Rolling Stone Magazine), Bassist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham (Worlds craziest drummer. 45 minute solo? Jesus christ!) discovered Vocalist Robert Plant after his days with the HoneyDrippers and together formed Led Zeppelin. Over the years they played all over the globe playing they're own style and becoming the founders of current metal. Bonham lived to the age of 32; he died on September 25, 1980 due to pulmonary edema. After that the band split up and went separate ways. Jimmy Page played guitar at special gigs for many bands like Pearl Jam, Jones did the same, and Robert Plant remade his image. He worked with Douglas Boyal and went solo. Even today he still makes albums with famous stars such as Bluegrass singer Alison Krauss. Certainly their music was harder than most of the stuff that was out at the time but it certainly wasn't metal. That being said, I like their music. I think it is good all around. They have good instrumentalist and a terrific singer to boot. I like Led Zeppelin but I wouldn't call them metal. As far as comparison goes, I'd call them more of a "Medium Rock." Good stuff.

Now, if they, as you say, founded rock, then I guess I have some respect for them for that and that alone. But their actual songs are terrible and often make no sense.
