Please Dont post here, post in the Discussion thread that will be up. Here we go... (It wont let me indent, so bear with me, in my Microsoft Word File its all indented. Ive already written the whole thing. As i get more put on the computer, ill update here) Chapter 1 The new red sports car got its engine revved as 16 year old TJ Masters pulled into his parking spot. As he climbed out of the driver’s seat, the sun reflected off of his designer sunglasses. He walked over to his friends, who were laughing like old times. Right then, his girlfriend came up and wrapped her supermodel-like arms around his waist and kissed him on the cheek. “So, you guys ready for the year?” TJ asked. As the bell rang, his friends groaned out a collective “hell no!” and walked their separate paths to class. Struggling with his math, TJ was surprised when his teacher told him to report to the office. Great, he thought, not even three weeks in and I’m getting called to the office. Out loud, he asked, “what for?” “I’m not sure. I wasn’t given any specifics.” His teacher replied as-a-matter-of fact. Muttering under his breath, TJ collected his stuff, exited the classroom, and headed in the direction of the office. But first, he stopped off at a water fountain to quench his thirst. Arriving at the main desk, the receptionist, busy on the phone, simply pointed at the principal’s door. Grudgingly, TJ took a seat opposite the desk. “TJ, I have terrible news.” The principal told him. “What happened?” he asked, genuine fear creeping into his voice. “It’s your parents.” The principal stated. “What. Happened? TJ demanded, emphasizing each word as he stood up. “They were in a horrific car accident,” he said, true sorrow in his voice, “They didn’t survive. I’m sorry.” TJ dropped into the chair he had just vacated, numb to everything around him, and tears free falling into his lap. “Oh… oh… my god…” he stammered, unable to say anything else. “I’ve called your butler, Geoffrey, and after some searching, he found your Uncle Max Masters living in Washington State,” Said the principal, trying to get back to business, “and because of laws, you must live with a blood relative, and Geoffrey doesn’t qualify. I’m sorry TJ, but you’re going to have to move. Still in a stupor, TJ merely nodded and said, “Uh-huh. Sure, ok.” Genuinely caring, the principal told him, “You can go home. I won’t make you so here in this trying time. You won’t have to come to school anymore until you move, but you’re going to have to move as soon as possible. I’ve talked to Mister Wadsworth, and he has agreed to stay working for you, and he said he has already started packing. All the financial arrangements have been taken care of, and we will inform the students of your moving.” Standing up, he walked around his desk and put his hand on TJ’s shoulder, “Unless you wish to tell them?” He asked. Wiping his eyes, sniffing, and standing up, he simply replied, “I’ll tell them.” And turned around and walked out of the office to collect his things from his locker. Chapter 2 After many “oh my gods” and “I’m so sorry” and many, many a tear from his now ex-girlfriend, TJ got into the car that Geoffrey had pulled up in to go to the high end apartment that was now no longer his parents’. Mindlessly, he finished packing, and tossed and turned all night, only getting a couple hours of sleep Their flight was to take off at 11 a.m., so he got up at about 9 and, even though Geoffrey protested, got some fast food breakfast. After getting stuck in some traffic, TJ wondered how many people could need the airport at 11 a.m. on a Tuesday. They got their luggage, gave Geoffrey’s friend the keys to return the car, and headed into the bustling airport ruckus. After what seemed like an eternity, the boy and his butler made it to their gate. They boarded their flight without a problem, and sat in their seats. TJ started to think about his new life that lay ahead of him. He realized that he didn’t know this Uncle very well at all. He knew his dad had a brother of course, but because of geographical location, they hardly ever saw him. The fact that Geoffrey was going with him was comforting, so he would at least have one person to confide in. TJ’s mind then turned to school. I wonder if I’ll be any good, he thought, I’ve been good at science, but I don’t think math will be any easier. His mind also turned to friends, and he figured when he got into the system of cliques, he wouldn’t have a problem. I hope there are some good looking girls in this place, he bemused, it wouldn’t do any good to be popular and not have any good options. A sudden onset of turbulence snapped from his thoughts and back into reality. “Whoa, that was really bad.” TJ said. “Yes sir, it was.” Geoffrey replied idly, flipping through the Sky Mall Magazine. “Do you have any idea how much longer we have?” “Not a clue, sir.” “Oh great, I can’t stand being in this… contraption much longer.” “I’m sorry, sir. Shall I call for the food cart or something?” “No thanks, I’m good, Geoffrey.” “Very well then, sir.” Geoffrey replied as he went back to flipping through his magazine. A few hours went by, and TJ had tried and failed to get a bit of sleep. After what seemed like an eternity, the “Fasten Seat Belts” light came on. Grateful that the flight was all but over, TJ put his seat back and buckled up. About thirty minutes later, they were in the lobby of the airport with their luggage by their side, anticipating the life that was before them. |
